February 14, 2023US crude prices decline 0.7% to $79.17 a barrel as investors take some profits following last week’s nearly 9% increase that was the first weekly gain in three weeks. “Crude oil prices are lower as demand worries overshadow Russia’s cut production plan,” says Peter Cardillo at Spartan Capital in a research note. Russia last week announced a plan to cut its own crude production by 500,000 barrels a day as retaliation after Western nations leveled energy sanctions against Russia that include a price cap on Russian crude-oil. WTI crude has been in a broad range between $71 and $82 for about three months.
