U.S. stock market skids Tuesday, spooked by Fed’s Powell tough talk on interest rates and 5% Treasury yields
March 8, 2023Treasury yields recede further, with the 10-year at 3.930% and the two-year at 4.855%. Chair Powell is expected to indicate more tightening ahead in his testimony at the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, starting at 10 am ET. “We think investors will focus on the prospects of recession that will undoubtedly be raised during the Q&A session,” Spartan’s Peter Cardillo says in a note. Powell addresses the House tomorrow.
