Treasury Yields Keep Rising Ahead of Fed Meeting — Market Talk
May 4, 2021On Wall Street, the Dow Jones ends on a record, the Nasdaq is losing ground
May 6, 2021The 10-year Treasury yield weakens to 1.585% versus 1.606% Monday, despite promising economic data. The fact that the Fed “keeps talking down inflation” could help explain, Spartan’s Peter Cardillo tells WSJ. He expects yields to resume their upward path soon. A big test will come on Friday with April’s nonfarm jobs report, which analysts expect to be robust. Anything lower than 900K added jobs could send the 10-year back to 1.52%, Cardillo says, but if it is a positive surprise “yields could shoot up rather quickly.”
